Crouching Spider, Beacon, NY

Crouching Spider, Beacon, NY, originalmente cargada por Grufnik.

Louise Bourgeois' Crouching Spider sculpture at Dia:Beacon.

The sculpture carries biographical overtones as the spider is a weaver, just as Bourgeois was when she was a child working in her family's tapestry repair business. In Bourgeois' lexicon, the spider also represents the female protector as well a predator, and carries sexual overtones to it as well.
