I can't do any better for photo. It's plain colors, plain background but it gives deep impact to my sense and induce beautiful feeling every time..
Just a few second I could capture it fast to record the tender love and care of both loves of my life..

Poon is a half Labrador and Golden Retriever who always thinks she is a mom of every pet in my house.. She is mother to several cats even give real milk to Sanshiro.

Sanshiro is the homeless cat I found when he was very young, skinny and totally hungry.. He ran to me and I decided to adopt him ... He was with me since 5 Jan this year and passed away in Sep this year too.. Really short time with him but ia the most impressive time with pets, ever in my life..

During weekend I often sit in front yard and pets gather all around.. It's good times to spend and I could observe so many wonderful things in my garden where somehow I feel like it is little secret garden..

Just very impressive moment of tender love and care of dog and cat for me. In this photo, Everything is tough, hard and concrete but the only gentleness is their love

The Greater Sulfur Crested Cockatoo is probably the best known of all Cockatoos. It is also the largest. It is white colored with the tail feathers and underside of the wings being yellow. The head is crowned by a bright sulfur-yellow crest, which curves upwards. This crest open ups like a fan when the bird is alarmed. The sexes can be told apart by the colors of the eyes. A male has a very dark, blackish eye, while the females are more brown. They reach a length up to 20 inches. [?]

*First I was so delighted to go inside the huge cage to shoot this lovely couple, but upon entering and starting to shoot this magnificent creatures, they seem to be very much annoyed with my presence and shooting gestures and they deliberately started making loud noise. This are huge birds and they started to freak me out, so I decided to go outside instead and shoot them even with the cage infront of me. Thank God to the Aperture Power [lol].

Huge and flooding gratitude again to Joy for giving me a chance to shoot all of his colorful and expensive imported birds. Dang I love Mother Nature.

I did another session of double drops collision splashes last night. About 4hs of work, 352 photos of which 41 I got reasonable in focus, with good shape, light and colors, but none came out really outstanding as I'm looking for... well, it's always a learning process... the setup is still in place and I got new ink for tonight, let's see what I get.

A sunflower star waits for the tide onthe beach at South Cove at Cape Arago on the Oregon Coast. I should have spent more time with this star, but I was on my way back up to the trail. I am fascinated by the sand tracks the star made when it the tide went out under it. These creatures came move fairly fast for a sea star, but this one was too far from solid rock to make any headway. Hopefully the tide returned before the birds got to it.

The sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides) is a large predatory sea star usually with 16-24 limbs called rays. It is the largest sea star in the world. Sunflower sea stars can grow to have an arm span of 1 m (3 ft.) in diameter.^[1] The color of the sunflower sea star ranges from bright orange, yellow and red to brown and sometimes to purple, with soft, velvet-textured bodies and 16-24 arms with powerful suckers. Most sea star species have a mesh-like skeleton that protects their internal organs. Easily stressed by predators such as large fish and other sea stars, they can shed arms to escape, which will grow back within a few weeks. They are part of the diet of the king crab.

The sunflower sea stars are quick, efficient hunters, moving at a speed of one meter per minute, using 15,000 tube feet which lie on the undersides of the body. They commonly hang around urchin barrens, as the sea urchin is a favorite food. They also eat clams, snails, abalone, sea cucumbers and other sea stars. In Monterey Bay, California, they will feed upon dead or dying squid. Although the sunflower sea star can greatly extend its mouth, for larger prey, the stomach can extend outside the mouth to digest prey, such as gastropods like abalone. Their feeding behavior was filmed in the 2006 BBC nature documentary, Planet Earth.

Went out again this morning with my son and step-daughter. Would have stayed longer but they started to act up (they are 4 and 8...) Will try to get out to catch the night time "glow" session if the kids behave today.

This really is a unique event. Balloons go up at 7am on the dot, fly just over the trees and then dip into Prospect Lake before ascending into the morning sky.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, his 1982 Thriller is the world's best-selling record of all time and four other solo studio albums are also among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall(1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossoverfollowing on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller—widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists.

Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundation, charity singles and support of 39 charities. Other aspects of his personal life, including his changing appearance and behavior, generated significant controversy, damaging his public image. Though he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and Jackson was not charged. The singer had experienced health concerns since the early 1990s and conflicting reports regarding the state of his finances since the late 1990s. Jackson married twice and fathered three children, all of which caused further controversy. In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of further sexual abuse allegations and several other charges.

One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era and the sale of 750 million records worldwide. Steve Huey of Allmusic asserts that throughout his solo career, Jackson's versatility allowed him to experiment with various themes and genres. As a musician, he ranged fromMotown's dance fare and ballads to techno-edged new jack swing to work that incorporates both funk rhythms and hard rock guitar. Unlike many artists, Jackson did not write his songs on paper. Instead he would dictate into a sound recorder; when recording he would sing from memory Several critics observed Off the Wall was crafted from funk, disco-pop, soul, soft rock, jazz and pop ballads. Prominent examples include the ballad "She's out of My Life", and the two disco tunes "Workin' Day and Night" and "Get on the Floor".

According to Huey, Thriller refined the strengths of Off the Wall; the dance and rock tracks were more aggressive, while the pop tunes and ballads were softer and more soulful. Notable tracks included the ballads "The Lady in My Life", "Human Nature" and "The Girl Is Mine"; the funk pieces "Billie Jean" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"; and the disco set "Baby Be Mine" and "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)". With Thriller, Christopher Connelly of Rolling Stone commented that Jackson developed his long association with the subliminal theme of paranoia and darker imagery. In Bad, Jackson's concept of the predatory lover can be seen on the rock song "Dirty Diana". The lead single "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" was a traditional love ballad, while "Man in the Mirror", an anthemic ballad of confession and resolution, improved on his earlier "We Are the World". "Smooth Criminal" was an evocation of bloody assault, rape and likely murder. Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine states that Dangerous presents Jackson as a stark paradoxical individual. He comments the album is more diverse than his previous Bad, as it appeals to an urban audience while also attracting the middle class with anthems like "Heal the World". The first half of the record is dedicated to new jack swing, including songs like "Jam" and "Remember the Time".The album is Jackson's first where social ills become a primary theme; "Why You Wanna Trip on Me", for example, protests against world hunger, AIDS, homelessness and drugs.Dangerous contains sexually charged efforts like "In the Closet", a love song about desire and denial, risk and repression, solitude and connection, privacy and revelation. The title track continues the theme of the predatory lover and compulsive desire. The second half includes introspective, pop-gospel anthems such as "Will You Be There", "Heal the World" and "Keep the Faith"; these songs show Jackson finally opening up about various personal struggles and worries. In the ballad "Gone Too Soon", Jackson gives tribute to his friend Ryan White and the plight of those with AIDS.

HIStory creates an atmosphere of paranoia. Its content focuses on the hardships and public struggles Jackson went through just prior to its production. In the new jack swing-funk-rock efforts "Scream" and "Tabloid Junkie", along with the R&B ballad "You Are Not Alone", Jackson retaliates against the injustice and isolation he feels, and directs much of his anger at the media. In the introspective ballad "Stranger in Moscow", Jackson laments over his "fall from grace", while songs like "Earth Song", "Childhood", "Little Susie" and "Smile" are all operatic pop pieces. In the track "D.S.", Jackson launched a verbal attack against Tom Sneddon. He describes Sneddon as an antisocial, white supremacist who wanted to "get my ass, dead or alive". Of the song, Sneddon said, "I have not—shall we say—done him the honor of listening to it, but I’ve been told that it ends with the sound of a gunshot". Invinciblefound Jackson working heavily with producer Rodney Jerkins. Vocal style

Jackson sang since he was a child, and over time his voice and vocal style changed noticeably, either through puberty or a personal preference to align his vocal interpretation to the themes and genres he chose to express. Between 1971 and 1975, Jackson's voice "descended ever so slightly from boy soprano to his current androgynous high tenor". In the mid-1970s, the singer adopted a "vocal hiccup" as seen in "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)". The purpose of the hiccup—somewhat like a gulping for air or gasping—was to help promote a certain emotion, be it excitement, sadness or fear. With the arrival of Off the Wall in the late 1970s, Jackson's abilities as a vocalist were well regarded; Allmusic described him as a "blindingly gifted vocalist". At the time, Rolling Stone compared his vocals to the "breathless, dreamy stutter" of Stevie Wonder. Their analysis was also that "Jackson's feathery-timbered tenor is extraordinarily beautiful. It slides smoothly into a startling falsetto that's used very daringly".1982 saw the release of Thriller, and Rolling Stone were of the opinion that Jackson was then singing in a "fully adult voice" that was "tinged by sadness".

I counted over 40 cranes in this shot. You can also have a glimpse of the giant Burj Dubai tower, which height is currently above 675.3 m (2,215 ft) with 177 completed floors. As a reference, the Taipei 101 (today's tallest building on Earth) stands at a height of 509.2 m. The final height of the Burj Dubai still remains undisclosed. It's due to be completed in September 2009.

My dear friends, I am still in the middle of (slowly) catching up with your streams. Tomorrow, I am moving to my new apartment, and will be unpacking my shipment which has arrived from Singapore. So I won't be much online for the next few days...

A little break in my cold Finnish seascapes...Back to some hard core urban architecture shots! ;-)

As of October 19th 2008, the height of the Burj Dubai is estimated at 730 meters (2395 feet). Speculated final height: between 800 and 950 meters...Anyway, there is already another project of a 1000 metres tower in the pipe, also in Dubai!

This is a handheld (40mm at f/8 with my Tamron 17-50mm) 5exp tonemapped HDR. This had to be shot very fast as the car was stopped on the emergency lane of a busy highway!

Driving along the back roads, time shifts. It ceases to run by my watch; moving instead at the speed of the sun inching across the sky, and of shadows creeping – molasses slow - across the ground. ~ View On Black

Different sounds – grasshoppers, cicadas, birds, the rustle of plant and leaves – replace the sound of the radio and my precious jazz. I have to turn it off, lest I miss nature’s own symphony of the subtle, the intermittent and the natural. Sounds without melody can be cacophony; in the city they are. But here - unscripted, unrehearsed, eons old – they are harmony.

“Who lives out here,” I wonder, as I pass neat and tidy, 100-year-old white-washed frame houses with swing-benches and flower pots hanging serenely on the porches. On occasion, one sees a sign of life; someone in a tractor way out in a field or watering a garden near the house. If you wave at them, they’ll usually wave back. “What are their lives like?” I try to imagine “these lives” as I drive along these quiet little roads nestled between rows of corn stalks setback along roadside buffer strips of hay-like mown grass. Sometimes, I think can. Usually, I can’t. Perhaps I am just romanticizing the whole thing.

Eventually though, dusty, lonesome, black-topped roads evolve into paved streets with divider lines, stop signs, stop lights and names instead of numbers like 50525 S. The streets lead to highways and speeds of 75 miles-per-hour. The windows go up, the air conditioning and music go back on, and big green and white signs point the way to Chicago.

But, my mind’s eye usually holds onto those little “country road – summer” images for the rest of the drive home.

The birth of the Buddha is often celebrated by Buddhists in India for an entire month in the Buddhist calendar. The actual day is called Buddha Poornima (or Buddha Purnima), also traditionally known as Vaishakh Poornima. Although the day marks not just the birth of Shakyamuni Gautam Buddha, but also the day of Enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana. But as a gentle effect of West, the event of Birth is given paramount importance.

The event is celebrated by gentle and serene fervour, keeping in mind the very nature of Buddhism. People, especially women, go to common Viharas to observe a rather longer-than-usual, full-length Buddhist sutra, as something like a service. The usual dress is pure white. Non-vegetarian food is normally avoided. Kheer, a sweet rice porridge is commonly served to recall the story of Sujata, a maiden who, in Gautama Buddha's life, offered the Buddha a bowl of milk porridge after he had given up the path of asceticism following six years of extreme austerity. This event was one major link in his enlightenment.

It is said that the Buddha originally followed the way of asceticism to attain enlightenment sooner, as was thought by many at that time. He sat for a prolonged time with inadequate food and water, which caused his body to shrivel so as to be indistinguishable from the bark of the tree that he was sitting under. Seeing the weak Siddhartha Gautama, a girl named Sujata placed a bowl of milk in front of him as an offering. Realizing that without food one can do nothing, the Buddha refrained from harming his own body.

Japan

In Japan, Buddha's Birthday is also celebrated according to the Buddhist calendar but is not a national holiday. On this day, all temples do celebratory events/festivals called Kanbutsu-e (Japanese: 灌仏会), 降誕会 (Goutan-e), 仏生会 (Busshou-e), 浴仏会 (Yokubutsu-e), 龍華会 (Ryuge-e), 花会式 (Hana-eshiki) or 花祭(Hana-matsuri, meaning 'Flower Festival'). The first event was held at Asuka-dera in 606. Japanese people pour ama-cha (a beverage prepared from a variety of hydrangea) on small Buddha statues decorated with flowers, as if they bathe a newborn baby.

Korea

In Korea the birthday of Buddha is celebrated according to the Lunisolar calendar. This day is called 석가탄신일 (Seokga tansinil), meaning "the day of Buddha's birthday" or 부처님 오신 날 (Bucheonim osin nal) meaning "the day when Buddha arrived". Lotus lanterns cover the entire temple throughout the month which are often flooded down the street. On the day of Buddha's birth, many temples provide free meals and tea to all visitors. The breakfast and lunch provided are often sanchae bibimbap.

Sri Lanka

This is one of the major festivals in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated on the first full moon day of the month of May^{[citation needed]}. People engage in religious observances and decorate houses and streets with candles and specially made lanterns.

Other Countries

Some places have a public holiday one week later, on the fifteenth day of the fourth month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, to coincide with the full moon. For instance, Visakha Puja inThailand or Lễ Phật đản in Vietnam was such a holiday on May 12 in 2006. Other countries including Singapore and Malaysia also celebrate Vesak Day on the fifteenth day of the fourth month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, a public holiday in these two countries.

The D.I.A. originally opened on September 1, 1888 on Jefferson Ave. It moved to it's current location on Woodward Avenue in 1927.

The "Detroit Industry" artwork by Diego Rivera is widely accepted as a great representation of Detroit and it's blue collar approach to life, but it was not always this way. When they were originally unveiled in 1933, they were referred to by many local newspapers as a "travesty of art". I think it's brilliant.

The mural now belongs to Mrs. Dolores Olmedo and was created in 1956, made with colored mosaics, stones and seashells. Regarded as one of the most important cultural works of art in Acapulco, the mural was one of the last works that the artist created before his death. In it are featured the Serpiente Emplumada Quetzalcóatl (Feathered Snake of Quetzalcoatl), a sphinx and an Aztec god.

Scheveningen is one of the eight districts of The Hague; with many cute seaside restaurants, long beaches, kite surfers, a pier (with casino) and lots of art scattered everywhere. Igor Mitoraj (born 1944) is a Polish artist born in Oederan, Germany.

He studied painting at the Kraków School of Art and at the Kraków Academy of Art under Tadeusz Kantor. After graduating, he had several joint exhibitions, and held is first solo exhibition in 1967 at the Krzysztofory Gallery in Poland. In 1968, he moved to Paris to continue his studies at the National School of Art.

Shortly afterwards, he became fascinated by Latin American art and culture, spending a year painting and travelling around Mexico. The experience led him to take up sculpture.

He returned to Paris in 1974 and two years later he held another major solo exhibition at the Gallery La Hune, including some sculptural work. The success of the show persuaded him that he was first and foremost a sculptor.

Having previously worked with terracotta and bronze, a trip to Carrara, Italy, in 1979 turned him to using marble as his primary medium and in 1983 he set up a studio in Pietrasanta. In 2006, he created the new bronze doors and a statue of John the Baptist for the basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Rome. However report hot controversy as a result of installation (April 5 2008) of his work in Piazza Trento in Tivoli, opposite the church of St. Maria Maggiore and the Villa d'Este. The location of the fact has put at risk the celebration of the rite dell'Inchinata. The work was moved on August 11, in this way was made possible the sacred ceremony. The statue was then called in situ on August 20, 2008. The citizens of Tivoli, which already signed a petition People (4800 signatures, the source Il Messaggero) against the installation of sculpture, even aesthetically and historically totally alien to the site, hope that in future the removal can be definitive.

Mitoraj's sculptural style is rooted in the classical tradition with its focus on the well modelled torso. However, Mitoraj introduces a post-modern twist with ostentatiously truncated limbs, emphasising the damage sustained by most genuine classical sculptures.

I had an interesting discussion today with a friend. We debated which came first, the Universe or the Idea of the Universe.

If you believe the idea came first then you must consider weather there is a dimension outside our Universe where the idea came from, a Ur-Universe if you will. If you believe the Universe evolved without the idea then you have to consider that our physical world is forming out of nothing. To put it another way, is the base reality of our world thought or concrete matter? And which came first? Before you answer this question for your self, consider that our human minds are thought not matter. Science can look into how the brain works and see all the ion-gates, synapses and neurons...but we have no idea what patterns are flowiing through this 'machine' and how. The contents of our minds is an abstraction, as software is abstraction inside a computer. So, you could say, we are just thoughts. We are Meta. That makes me wonder if we have more in common with our art than our bodies. More in common with dreams than with reality.

So I wrote a poem today which I really liked. And I wanted to do a piece of Art to display it with. I started this piece and it ended up nothing like what I started out to do. As I added each element new potentialities present themselves and before I knew it I was in a very different mode of expression. So I can't show you the poem, Maybe tomorrow.

Oh and one more thing, like the Universe, this piece is not done yet.

The Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao) is a large, colorful Macaw. Some consider the Scarlet to be among the most beautiful birds in the world.

It is native to humid evergreen forests in the American tropics. Range extends from extreme south - eastern Mexico to Amazoniain Peru and Brazil, in lowlands up to 500 m (1,640 ft) (at least formerly) up to 1,000 m (3,281 ft). It has been widely extirpated by habitat destruction and capture for the pet trade. Formerly it ranged north to southern Tamaulipas. It can still be found on the island of Coiba. It is also the Honduran national bird.

It is about 81 to 96 cm (32 to 36 inches) long, of which more than half is the pointed, graduated tail typical of all macaws. The average weight is about a kilogram (2 to 2.5 pounds). The plumage is mostly scarlet, but the rump and tail-covert feathers are light blue, the greater upperwing coverts are yellow, the upper sides of the flight feathers of the wings are dark blue as are the ends of the tail feathers, and the undersides of the wing and tail flight feathers are dark red with metallic gold iridescence. Some individuals may have green on the wings near the yellow band. Three subspecies present varying widths in their yellow wing band. There is bare white skin around the eye and from there to the bill. Tiny white feathers are contained on the face patch. The upper mandible is mostly pale horn in color and the lower is black. Sexes are alike; the only difference between ages is that young birds have dark eyes, and adults have light yellow eyes.

Scarlet Macaws make loud, low-pitched, throaty squawks, squeaks and screams designed to carry many miles.

Scarlet Macaws originate in the humid lowland subtropical rain forests, open woodlands, river edges, and savannas of Central and South America. The habitat of the Central American Scarlet Macaw runs through the extreme eastern and southern regions of Mexico and Panama, but also through Guatemala and Belize, while the South American population has an extensive range that covers the Amazon basin; extending to Peru east of the Andes, to Bolivia, and Paraguay.While generally infrequent on the mainland, great colonies of Scarlet Macaws can still be found on the islands of Coiba.

Before the Scarlet Macaw's decline in population, its distribution included much of Costa Rica. However, by the 1960s Scarlet Macaws had been decreasing in numbers due to a combination of factors, particularly hunting, poaching, and the destruction of habitat through deforestation. Further, the spraying of pesticides by companies cultivating and selling bananas for export played a significant role in decreasing Scarlet Macaw populations.

The combined factors stressed the population of Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica, where they had previously occupied approximately 42,500 km² of the country's total national territory of 51,100 km², leaving viable populations in the early 1990s isolated to only two regions on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica; the Carara Biological Reserve and Peninsula de Osa. By 1993 surveys had shown Scarlet macaws occupied only 20% (9,100 km²) of their historic range in Costa Rica.

In flight

The habitat of Scarlet Macaws is considered to be the greatest latitudinal range for any bird in the genus Ara, as the estimated maximum territorial range covers 6,700,000 km². Nevertheless, the Scarlet macaw’s habitat is fragmented, and colonies of the bird are mostly confined to tiny populations scattered throughout Central and South America. However, as they still occur in large numbers in some parts of their territory, where they are described as "common," the World Conservation Union evaluated the species in 2004 as "Least Concern".

This mosaic of brightly colored parasols hides a bustling, noisy market, set up for the day in a street of the capital. Shaded from the sun, stalls selling fruit and vegetables, herbal remedies, and spices sit side by side with others that sell cloth and craft artifacts. Mexico’s flourishing markets are a national institution, held daily all over the country. Like their crafts, their traditional clothing, and the façades of buildings, the markets express Mexicans’ love of vivid, bright colors, such as the brilliant pink known as «rosa Mexicana.» Internationally, Mexico was a world champion of commercial growth between 1985 and 1999. Although the national GDP doubled during this period, it is only today that household consumption has begun to rise. This trend may benefit some of the wealthier urban population, but life has not improved for the majority of Mexicans, half of whom live below the poverty line. The social unrest that has troubled the state of Chiapas since 1994 is partly due to this.

Serpiente emplumada (ometeotl)

Ometeotl is the name of the dual god Ometecutli/Omecihuatl in Aztec mythology. Teotl originally was translated as god, but most translators^{[citation needed]} now prefer lord since the concept is not equivalent to the European concept of God. Some people translate teotl as energy, but this is not generally accepted. The literal translation of the name is "Lord Two", Miguel Leon-Portilla interprets this as "Lord of the Duality".

In the Nahua/Aztec tradition, Ometeolt/Omecihualt is a dual god, male and female, who was the creator of Cemanahuatl. Ometeotl's male aspect is Ometecutli, his/her female aspect is Omecihuatl. S/he dwelled in and ruled over Omeyocan ("Two Place"), home of the gods.

There were no temples dedicated to this god, but references to Ometeotl appear in a number of post-conquest Aztec codices and poetry.

Ometeotl was also referred by other names: Tloque Nahuaque, "Owner of the Near and Far"; Moyocoyatzin, "The Inventor of Himself"; Ipalnemohua, "The Giver of Life".

Ometecuhtli ("two-lord"; also Ometeoltloque, Ometecutli, Tloque Nahuaque, Citlatonac), the male aspect, was a deity associated with fire, a creator deity and one of the highest gods in the pantheon, though he had no cult and was not actively worshipped.

An Aztec poem declares:

Este es un dios antiguo, que no tenía templos, y era casi desconocido por el pueblo, pero muy nombrado en los poemas de las clases altas. Debido a que se le menciona de una manera que parece ignorar el resto de la cosmogonía azteca, Leon Portilla sugiere que tal vez los sabios aztecas estaban en un proceso de aglutinar a los demás dioses en esta deidad.

Omecihuatl (Mujer dos, Señora de la Dualidad), diosa que representa la esencia femenina de la creación en la religión mexica. Esposa de Ometecuhtli. También se le conoce como tonacacihuatl, Señora de nuestra carne.

Ometeótl es también llamado "in Tonan, in Tota, Huehueteotl", "Madre nuestra, Padre nuestro, Viejo Dios". Como dualidad y unidad masculino-femenina, reside en Omeyocann, "el Sitio de la Dualidad", que, a su vez, ocupa el más alto lugar de los cielos. El/ella es padre/madre del Universo y cuanto hay en él. Como "Señor y Señora de Nuestra Carne y Sustento", suministra la energía cósmica universal de la que todas las cosas derivan, así como la continuidad de su existencia y sustento. Provee y mantiene el ritmo oscilante del universo, y le confiere a cada cosa su naturaleza particular. Es en virtud de estos atributos que se lo/la llama "el Uno Mediante Quien Todos Vivimos" y el/la que "es el verdadero ser de todas las cosas, preservándolas y nutriéndolas". Por ser metafísicamente inmanente, Ometeótl es llamado/a Tloque Nahuaque, amo de lo cercano y lo lejano o el/la que está cerca de todas las cosas y de quien todas las cosas están cerca. En tanto epistemológicamente trascendente, se lo/la llama Yohualli-ehecátl, Uno que es Invisible (como la noche) e Intangible (como el viento). Recibe también los nombres de Moyocoyatzin, "el inventor de sí mismo" e Ipalnemohua, "el dador de vida".

The Reichstag building in Berlin was constructed to house the Reichstag, the first parliament of the German Empire. It was opened in 1894 and housed the Reichstag until 1933, when it was severely damaged in a fire supposedly set by Dutch communist Marinus van der Lubbe, who was later beheaded for the crime. That verdict has been a subject of controversy over the years. The National Socialist German Workers Party used this event as casus belli to begin a purge of "traitors" in Berlin and to ban the Communist Party of Germany.

The building remained in ruins until the reunification of Germany, when it underwent reconstruction led by internationally renowned architect Norman Foster. After its completion in 1999, it became the meeting place of the modern German parliament, the Bundestag.

The Reichstag as a parliament dates back to the Holy Roman Empire and ceased to act as a true parliament in the years of the Nazi regime (1933–1945). In today's usage, the German term Reichstag or Reichstagsgebäude (Reichstag building) refers to the building, while the term Bundestag refers to the institution.

History of the building

Construction of the building began well after 1871. Previously, the parliament had assembled in several other buildings in the Leipziger Straße in Berlin; but these were generally considered too small, so in 1872 an architectural contest with 103 participating architects was carried out to erect an all-new building. Work did not start until ten years later though, due to various problems with purchasing property for the new building and arguments between Wilhelm I, Otto von Bismarck, and the members of the Reichstag about how the construction should be performed.

In 1882, another architectural contest was held, with 189 architects participating. This time the winner, the Frankfurt architect Paul Wallot, would actually have his plan executed. On 9 June 1884, the foundation stone was finally laid by Wilhelm I. Before construction was completed in 1894, Wilhelm I died (in 1888, the Year of Three Emperors). His successor, Wilhelm II, objected to parliament as an institution to a much greater extent. The original building was most acclaimed for the construction of an original cupola of steel and glass, an engineering masterpiece of the time.

In 1916 the iconic words "Dem Deutschen Volke" ("To the German people") were carved above the main facade of the building, much to the displeasure of Wilhelm II who had tried to block the adding of the inscription due to its democratic significance. After World War I had ended and Wilhelm had abdicated, during the revolutionary days of 1918, Philipp Scheidemann proclaimed the institution of a republic from one of the balconies of the Reichstag building on 9 November. The building continued to be the seat of the parliament of the Weimar Republic (1919–1933), which was still called Reichstag.

Norman Robert Foster, Baron Foster of Thames Bank, OM, FRIBA, FCSD, RDI, (born 1 June 1935) is a British architect whose company maintains an international design practice. He is Britain's most prolific builder of landmark office buildings.

Foster was born in the Reddish area of Stockport, England, to a working-class family. He was naturally gifted and performed well at school and took an interest in architecture, particularly in the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier.

Leaving school at 16, he worked in the Manchester City Treasurer's office before joining National Service in the Royal Air Force. After he was discharged, in 1956 Foster attended the University of Manchester's School of Architecture and City Planning (graduating in 1961). Later, he won the Henry Fellowship to the Yale School of Architecture, where he met former business partner Richard Rogers and earned his Master's degree. He then travelled in America for a year, returning to the UK in 1962 where he set up an architectural practice as Team 4 with Rogers and their respective girlfriends, the sisters Georgie and Wendy Cheesman. Georgie (later Wolton) was the only one of the team that had passed her RIBA exams allowing them to set up in practice on their own. Team 4 quickly earned a reputation for high-tech industrial design.

"The New Zealand-born artist made Manhattan his home in 1966 and was a part of the science fiction and comics scene for the next few decades. He produced covers and interiors for numerous SF magazines and for mainstream venues, including several TIME covers. In the early 1970s, SUPERGRAPHICS published a collection of his techno-oriented work titled "The Mike Hinge Experience".

Mr. Hinge's super-detailed and elaborate art style predated the digital illustration revolution and many of the artist's works foreshadowed the coming elegance and intricacy of computer art. At the risk of being shunned by even my closest friends, I have to confess to having taken this picture using a hand-held, 'point-and-shoot' camera with a X10 Swiss watchmaker's eye loupe held in front of the lens! In addition, my style was severely cramped by the lack of an LCD screen, which had broken down and shone like a torch, requiring the pressure of both hands on the camera casing to display any kind of information! :-(

Needless to say, without the screen, focusing and framing were going to be a problem since the optical viewfinder would have been quite useless at such very close range. So I had to position the camera at an estimated point (about 1cm) in front of the subject's nose, say 'smile', press the button and hope that I was focused on the right spot. Fortunately, my model was patient enough to wait while I set up "my gear" and took enough shots to get it "just right"! ;-)

The smile on his face says it all! ;-)

Mind you, the smile could also have been due to the fact that the "mating season" was in full swing! ;-))

On the upside, I have to say that the dragonfly (along with several of his admirers, jostling for position) was perched, at about eye level, on top of a fairly sturdy, 2 mm, chain-link, wire fence which, at such close range, I was able to touch very gingerly with my little finger!
I did this in a bid to achieve maximum stability and in fact, as you can see, contact was made, current flowed and his face lit up! ;-) One of the benefits, I guess, of having a camera with a built-in flashlight facility! ;-))

Incidentally, the "real flash" didn't fire! ;-))

Naturally, I had to wait till I got home to see the results of my efforts and when I did, I couldn't wait to get back. So I decided to return to the scene a couple of weeks later. On the way, it started to rain and when I arrived, I was very surprised to find them as I'd left them, albeit rather wet and quite depressed! ;-)

The third largest reclining Buddha image of the world reposes at Wat Hat Yai Nai on Phetkhasem Road near Ou-Tapao Bridge. The statue, named Phra Buddha hatmongkhol, is 35 meters long, 15 meters high and 10 meters wide. This is considered one of the most revered statues in the region.

Whether coming from Malaysia or continuing your travels in that direction, Hat Yai is an ideal stopover. Hat Yai, is in effect the south's major city, its commercial, shopping and entertainment center. Located in Songkhla province, 947km from Bangkok and about 50km north of the Malaysian border, Hat Yai is also the region's communication hub and is well served by road, rail and air access.

I always loved this house/building, at a street corner.

Although I don't know him/her, I like the person who came up with the idea to do it this way, and the ones who paid for it, and the actual realisators. Great experience to discover a house like this suddenly in the city! Like an unexpected gift! :-D
